The Chrism Mass is one of the highlights of the church year. It it the Mass which the Bishop celebrates with his priests and people during Holy Week. In the course this Mass the priests and deacons reaffirm their commitment to their vocation and the Bishop blesses the Oils which will be used in parishes throughout the coming year.
This year's Chrism Mass will take place on 28th March and will, among other things, act as a culmination of the series of Diocesan Lenten Station Masses.
As usual, the music for the Chrism Mass will be led by the Diocesan Choir.
The music list includes the following:
- Laudate Dominum (Walker)
- Lift on High (Ogden)
- Take and Eat (Joncas)
- Jesus Christ has made us His Kingdom (Le Poidevin)
- Mass of St Paul the Apostle (Walker)
- Tintinabuli Glory to God (Geary)
- Hymn of Chrism (Ogden)
- plus more.
If you would like to be part of the choir on this occasion please note that there will be rehearsals in the weeks before the event in various places around the Diocese. Please note that because of the nature of the Chrism Mass and the complexity of its music, we will require that people attend at least one rehearsal before the day.

Saturday March 10th – St Michael's Tetbury, 2.30pm
Saturday March 17th – St Georges, Taunton, 11am
