Upcoming events

Dear Diocesan Musicians,

Just a very quick reminder that anybody who wishes is invited to take part in the Clifton Hours this weekend.

The Hours starts with Evening Prayer I for the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul tomorrow afternoon.

We'll meet at 3pm in the Cathedral (note the slightly revised start time), and work on the music for the service. Music will include:

  • Psalms, antiphons and responsories for the day, set for choir and congregation
  • A newly revised Magnificat/Litany for choir, people and organ
  • Chris Walker's We Love this place
  • Hymns

Depending on the number of people who come along to sing, we can tailor the day to our needs. Coffee, tea and biscuits!

If you have a moment, let us know that you're intending to come by either replying to this email or visting our Clifton Music Service website and registering.

If you can't take part, and if are in the Bristol area, you can still hear about the Hours on Lucy Tegg's Radio Bristol programme on Sunday Morning - Director of Music Richard Jeffrey-Gray and Hours Director Martin Le Poidevin spoke about the Hours with her yesterday and the interview and some music is due to be aired on Sunday morning.

For much more about the Clifton Hours, see here.

Other events in the near future

Don't forget that the Glastonbury Pilgrimage is on July 13th. Again, everyone welcome to sing. The music includes the Mass of St Paul the Apostle, Marco Frisina's beautiful choral setting of Anima Christi and Owen Alstott's O Holy Mary. Please register here if you are able to come.

The Clifton Music Service website at cliftonms.com has some great resources on it for you to use, plus more information about the Music Service, which is updated on a regular basis with news of Diocesan Music and cathedral services.

Give us some idea of what you want to see on it (for instance, a Mass/Service planner is in development, and we hope to get some forums going again soon) and we'll do our best to implement them.
