Dear Diocesan Musicians,

Ordination to the Priesthood, 26th July

July 26th sees the Ordination of three candidates to the priesthood - Dominic Findlay-Wilson, Colin Mason and Frank Wainwright.

If you would like to sing in the choir for the occasion, it would be great to have you there.

The Mass is at 11am, in Clifton Cathedral, and we'll meet for a quick rehearsal at 10.15, also in the Cathedral.

The music includes:

Hymns: Alleluia, Sing to Jesus; Praise to the Lord, the almighty; Let all Mortal Flesh; Tell out my soul

Mass settings, Litany of Saints and Veni Sancte Spiritus: Plainsong variously from Orbis Factor, Missa de Angelis and Mass XVIII

The Community from St Nicholas will also be joining us, to sing during Communion.

The choir will be led by Martin Le Poidevin.

Please let us know by email (martin@cliftonms.com) if you are able to come - we look forward to seeing you. It's a remarkably joyful occasion when three new priests are to be ordained, so it will be fitting to celebrate it with some great singing.

Glastonbury Pilgrimage

Many thanks to those who sang for the Glastonbury Pilgrimage yesterday. It was great to have the singing during the procession, as well as the fantastically warm and balanced choir singing during the Mass itself. There was much warm appreciation for your efforts afterwards from many people. A big thank you again.

The Clifton Music Service website at cliftonms.com has some great resources on it for you to use, plus more information about the Music Service, which is updated on a regular basis with news of Diocesan Music and cathedral services.

Give us some idea of what you want to see on it (for instance, a Mass/Service planner is in development, and we hope to get some forums going again soon) and we'll do our best to implement them.
