Dear Diocesan Musicians,

Glastonbury Pilgrimage, 12th July

July 12th sees the annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Glastonbury.

The Pilgrimage has two main elements - a procession through the streets of the town and then Mass in the Abbey ruins, to be celebrated this year by Bishop Crispian Hollis. We will be singing for the Procession (by the miracles of modern technology, we'll be doing it from our position in the Abbey!) and for the Mass itself.

The music includes Bernadette Farrell's I Rejoiced, Christopher Walker's Bread I bring to the God of Love, Marty Haugen's Shepherd Me O God and many more hymns and songs, most of which are well known. The Mass settings include elements from Patrick Geary's Tintinnabuli Mass, Dan Schutte's Mass of Christ the Saviour and Chris Walker's New Glastonbury Acclamations.

The choir will be led by Martin Le Poidevin.

The Procession takes place at 2.15, the Mass starts at 3.30. We will rehearse at the front of the Abbey - next to the high altar - at 1.30pm. Come and join us!

Please let us know by email (martin@cliftonms.com) or by visiting the Clifton Music Service website's Diocesan Choir page if you'd like to come (this isn't a firm commitment, but will allow us to prepare the appropriate amount of music).

Chrism Mass

As this is our first newsletter since April, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who sang at the Chrism Mass before Easter. It was a fantastic celebration, much appreciated by many of the hundreds of people who attended. A big thank you from them, too!

In the next few weeks

As well as the Pilgrimage, Diocesan Musicians will be providing music at many events over the coming months, including the Primary Schools Leavers Mass, the Cathedral community's First Holy Communion Mass and the Clifton Hours.

Clifton Music Service website

The Clifton Music Service website at cliftonms.com has some great resources on it for you to use, plus more information about the Music Service, which is updated on a regular basis with news of Diocesan Music and cathedral services.

Give us some idea of what you want to see on it (for instance, a Mass/Service planner is in development, and we hope to get some forums going again soon) and we'll do our best to implement them.
